On the eve of Localmotion . . atthe moment it is localexhaustion! Preparing for this event has drawn all my energy down . . so I decided to take a nap this afternoon and just woke up 4 hours later! Earlier today, when I was visiting the local farms buying the local food products that will be featured on the pizzas at Localmotion, I was struck with the overwhelming feeling that we are on to somthing good here, something big. The Idea was simple, I wanted to take back our town from corporate sponsorship, to show that we as a community have what it takes to survive , the food , the music, the spirits, the people.
I am not side lining what so called progress and big companies are offering but simply reeling things back in to a local level. We can live without flashy ads and 300 channels of home- shopping- silicone- filled home shopping -crap! I feel like we (our people and our military) have been raped by the administration and now are being raped my the big oil powers, leaving me feeling abused and helpless . . well Localmotion has reminded us that we have all that we need right here, and with some smart thinking we can stand on our own feet, using conservation alternative and creative forms of sustainable energy and with a bit of forward thinking . . we can thrive.
If I am exhausted from having created something good . . then it is all worth it.
Anyhow Enjoy the food, music, beer and wines . . . we are Localmotion !
PS Did I mention we bought a fire truck as the the new "Mobile PIzza Unit" !!

Christopher, thanks for all you do. It's people like you who help keep our eyes on the prize of sustainable community, whether that sustenance is food, friendship or just plain being involved. See you Saturday!
